The Inner Child

The ‘inner child’ is a name used for the emotions that we felt as children that we may still feel inside...

For some people the concept or idea of the ‘inner child’ is a difficult one to grasp as we live in a society that wants us to cast off the ways of the child and to grow up and ’fit in’ to the adult world as quickly as possible.

Yet when we have issues from our younger years that haven’t been talked out or resolved then this can cause problems for us as adults.

If we are to live happily and effectively as adults then we need to address issues that we may have faced as children.

Only when we do this can we really feel that we are ‘free’ and can ‘live in the moment’.

We can begin this process by re-connecting to the ideas and emotions we felt as children; by re-examining and acknowledging certain behaviours of ours and of the people around us - especially the adults and other authority figures - and then beginning the process of ‘comforting’ and ‘healing’ our long-held inner feelings.

Dealing effectively with emotional issues from our childhood will always cause our health and well-being to improve
